CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY?

Craniosacral Therapy is designed to reunite mind and body - restoring harmony, vitality and balance. I practice it because it’s a safe and effective treatment for a wide range of conditions, whether they’re acute or chronic, physical or psychological. It offers support and comfort and may be used alongside other therapies or modern medical treatments.

WHO IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY FOR?

It’s such a gentle, non-invasive therapy that it is suitable for anyone from newborn to old-age. It can be used to help treat acute physical problems (eg a bad back) or provide ongoing support to help you with the stresses of a busy life.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY SESSION?

Your initial consultation will be for an hour. I’ll ask some detailed questions about the reason for your visit and also your previous medical history and lifestyle. Unlike with a massage, you’ll remain fully clothed during the treatment, which may be conducted with you lying face up or on your side on a treatment table, or sitting in a chair.

The therapy involves my using a light touch on your feet, head, spine or other areas, encouraging your body to relax so I can assess healing states.  All touch is fully negotiated before contact is made.  This is a holistic treatment, as the body functions as a whole, so you may find I focus on areas other than where your symptoms occur. During, or after, a session, you may feel calm, energised or experience improved well-being or clarity.

Please contact me to discuss whether Craniosacral Therapy could be beneficial for a particular condition. Please note: Craniosacral Therapy is not intended as primary healthcare but should work alongside the relationship you have with your doctor.

MLDM is a very relaxing skin deep massage, without oil, and using some acupressure. I use a range of specialised and gentle rhythmic techniques to stimulate your lymphatic vessels - which carry substances vital to your body’s defence and removal of waste products. This can promote the healing of fractures, torn ligaments, sprains and lessens pain and well as improving many chronic conditions: sinusitus, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, acne and other skin conditions. MLDM may also strengthen your immune system as part of a “detox” treatment.

MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE MASSAGE

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE MASSAGE?

EQUINE CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle hands on treatment suitable for any horse, from birth to old age and works with the horse’s central nervous system, to settle it so healing may take place.  Horses respond very positively to CST and it may help to support your horse through a variety of issues and conditions, such as:

- Behavioural Issues (napping, head shaking, cribbing, weaving, etc)

- Anxiousness

- Trauma (accidents or injury, dental or veterinary, emotional and psychological trauma)

- Illness (laminitis, lameness, cushings syndrome, EMS, rainscald, mud fever, sweet itch, colic,

   coughs)

- General Wellbeing

Once you have booked a CST session, I will take a brief medical history of your horse over the phone prior to your appointment.  On arrival at your yard, please have your horse in their stable with the bed down in case they choose to lie down during the treatment.  For the first few sessions your horse will need to have a head collar on and for you to hold the lead rope loosely, so your horse may move around freely, until your horse is comfortable receiving treatment and I am familiar with them.  After treatment, it would be beneficial if your horse is turned out or has food placed on the floor of the stable and not ridden or worked for 24 hours.

The session will involve me making gentle contact with your horse starting at the croup and moving my hands gently to other areas of the horse, such as withers or poll.  Your horse may lick and chew, yawn, sigh or snort and this is a normal part of the process of the treatment.  The session will last between 45-60 minutes.  It is recommended that your horse has a minimum of three treatments.

For legal and insurance purposes, you must obtain your vets permission for your horse to receive CST.
